A group roster is the list of Players a group plays with, kept separate from the club's Master Roster. Building the roster ahead of time makes it quick to add the same Players to each new game, and lets Group Leaders invite Players to Golf Genius so they can keep score from their phones. Group Leaders can manage the rosters of the groups they lead, and Customer Managers can manage the roster of any group. Players added in Setting Up a Group Event are added to the group roster automatically, and the roster can be managed at any time. For an overview of the full group event process, see Getting Started as a Group Leader.

Accessing the Group Roster
To open a group roster, follow these directions:
From the Group Leader dashboard, click "Manage Group." Note: Group Leaders who lead more than one group click "Manage Groups." Customer Managers navigate to Master Roster > Manage Groups.
Click the roster link for the group (as shown below).

Above the roster, Events shows how many events the group has and opens them on the dashboard. Customer Managers also see "Add Group Leader." While the roster is empty, a Get Started banner at the top of the page explains how to add the first Players.
Adding Players
Players are added from the "Add Golfers" menu, which offers three options (as shown below):
Add Manually: Adds a single Player by entering their details.
Import from Master Roster: Adds Players from the club's Master Roster.
Import from Spreadsheet: Adds Players from an .xls, .xlsx, or .csv file.

Adding a Player never sends an invitation on its own, so the roster can be built before anyone is contacted. For details on sending invitations, see Inviting Players to Golf Genius below.
Adding a Player Manually
To add a Player manually, follow these directions:
Navigate to the group roster.
Click "Add Golfers" > "Add Manually."
Complete the following fields in the Add Golfer window (as shown below):
First Name: The Player's first name.
Last Name: The Player's last name. This is the only required field.
Email: The Player's email address, used for invitations and scoring links.
Phone: The Player's phone number, used for scoring link text messages.
Handicap ID: The Player's ID with the club's handicap service.
Handicap Index: The Player's Handicap Index, such as 15.5, or +2.1 for a plus handicap.
Gender: Male, Female, or Unknown. This stays empty unless a value is selected.

Click "Save" to add the Player.
Notes:
The Handicap ID field is labeled with the name of the club's handicap service.
Each group uses one of the roster's custom fields for phone numbers, such as Phone, Mobile Phone, or Cell Phone. The Phone field is labeled with the name of that custom field.
A Handicap Index above 99.9 displays the message "Handicap Index must be between 0 and 99.9." A value that is not a number is saved as a blank Handicap Index.
Importing from the Master Roster
To import Players from the Master Roster, follow these directions:
Navigate to the group roster.
Click "Add Golfers" > "Import from Master Roster."
Search for a Player by name in the side panel and click to add them (as shown below). Repeat for each Player.

Note: The side panel searches the Master Roster by name only and leaves out Players who were already imported.
Importing from a Spreadsheet
To import Players from a spreadsheet, follow these directions:
Navigate to the group roster.
Click "Add Golfers" > "Import from Spreadsheet."
Upload an .xls, .xlsx, or .csv file.
Map the spreadsheet columns and review the import, then complete it to return to the roster.
Players Added from Group Events
The roster also grows automatically. Every Player added to one of the group's events in the setup wizard is added to the group roster, and a Player who is already on the roster is reused rather than duplicated.
A Player is matched to the roster by their Golf Genius member card, identifier ID, or email. Only a Player with none of these is matched by first and last name.
Editing and Removing Players
Each Player's menu on the roster offers "Edit," "Send Invitation," and "Delete" (as shown below).
[Screenshot needed: TM-GL-15 – Player menu on the group roster]
Edit: Opens the Edit Golfer window, pre-filled with the Player's details. Clicking a Player's name opens the same window. Click "Save" to update the Player.
Delete: Removes the Player from the roster after confirmation. Deleting a Player does not remove them from events they are already playing in.
Inviting Players to Golf Genius
Every Player on the roster has a registration status, which determines whether they can be invited to Golf Genius:
Status | Meaning | Invitation |
Registered | Linked to a registered Golf Genius account | Not needed |
Invited | Invitation sent, but the Player has not set their own password yet | Can be resent |
Unregistered | Has an email but was never invited, or the invitation bounced | Can be sent |
No Email Provided | No email on file | Not possible |
Invitations are only sent with "Send Invitation" or "Register All":
Send Invitation: From a Player's menu, sends an invitation to that Player.
Register All: Invites every Player who has an email and has not finished registering, including Players who are still Invited. The button shows how many Players it will invite.
[Screenshot needed: TM-GL-16 – Register All]
After sending, a notice confirms that the invitations are being sent and the Players' statuses change to Invited.
Downloading the Roster
Click "Download Roster" to download a CSV file of the full roster. The file is prepared in the background, and the download starts when it is ready.
