Webhook Integration

Send Event/League data such as courses, players, pairings, and scores to an outside system automatically.

This feature is available for the following products:

Webhook Integration sends Event/League data from Golf Genius to an outside system, such as a scoring, broadcast, or tee sheet partner, as soon as the data changes. Each type of data is sent as its own message to an endpoint, the web address the partner provides.

Webhook Integration must be enabled on the account before it can be used. To enable it, contact your Golf Genius Account Manager.

Enabling Webhook Integration for an Event/League

To enable Webhook Integration for an Event/League, follow these directions:

  1. Navigate to Event > Event Profile > General Settings.

  2. Check Enable Webhook Integration (as shown below).

  3. Click "Save" to apply the settings.

  4. Navigate to Event > Webhook Integration to set up the webhooks (as shown below).

The Webhook Integration page lists each webhook with the following columns:

  • Auto Send: Turns automatic sending on or off for the webhook.

  • Last Sent: The date and time the webhook last sent data.

  • Send Manually: Sends the data on demand. See Sending Data Manually below.

  • Actions: "Edit" opens the setup page for the webhook, and "Logs" opens its Logs page.

Setting Up a Webhook

Each webhook is set up on its own, so only the data the partner needs is sent. To set up a webhook, follow these directions:

  1. Navigate to Event > Webhook Integration.

  2. In the row for the webhook, click "Edit" (as shown below).

  3. Enter the endpoint provided by the partner in the Edit endpoint field. For some integrations, such as Lightspeed, the endpoint is filled in automatically.

  4. To send updates as soon as the data changes, check the Automatically send checkbox, for example, Automatically send Matches to Endpoint.

  5. Click "Save" to apply the settings. When Automatically send is checked, the Auto Send toggle for that webhook shows YES on the Webhook Integration page (as shown below).

Auto Send can also be turned on or off from the Auto Send toggle in the webhook's row on the Webhook Integration page.

The following webhooks are available:

  • Courses: The active courses in the Event/League.

  • Event Roster: Everyone on the Event/League roster, with their handicap and custom fields.

  • Matches: The matches in a Bracket Tournament or 3/3/3 Flags competition.

  • Match Results: The status and scores of each match.

  • Pairings: The pairings in a round.

  • Players: The confirmed players in a round.

  • Scores: Each player's scores in a round.

  • Event & Round Settings: The settings for the Event/League and each of its rounds.

  • Team Results: Each team's scores.

  • Teams: The teams set up in the Event/League.

Sending Data Manually

Any webhook's data can be sent on demand, for example, to resend data the partner missed. To send data manually, follow these directions:

  1. Navigate to Event > Webhook Integration.

  2. In the Send Manually column, click the "Send" link for the webhook, for example, "Send Matches" (as shown below).

  3. Select the round and click "Send" (as shown below).

Note: Courses and Event Roster send data for the whole Event/League, so no round is selected. The other webhooks send all of that data for the selected round.

Viewing the Logs

The Logs page shows each message that has been sent, with the time it was sent, the response from the partner, and who sent it. To view it, navigate to Event > Webhook Integration and click "Logs" in the Actions column for the webhook (as shown below).

If the partner does not respond within 5 seconds, the message is sent again after 1 minute, up to 3 times.

What Triggers an Automatic Send

When Auto Send is on, the following changes send an update:

  • Courses: Marking a course as active or inactive, or changing an active course's name, abbreviation, or tees, and saving.

  • Event Roster: Adding a player to the roster (manually, by import, through registration or Golf Hub registration, from the waitlist, or through the API), removing a player, or changing a player's information, such as name, email, mobile phone, Team ID, handicap, or custom fields.

  • Players: Any change to the confirmed players in a round, including creating a round that registers players automatically, adding players to a round, changing a player's status, or changing the Event/League roster when the round registers players automatically.

  • Pairings: Saving the pairings with changes to the groups, group order, courses, tees, starting holes, or tee times. Pairings schedules and waves also send an update.

  • Scores: Any change to a player's scorecard, including scores entered on the Enter Scores page, in the Golf Genius App, through shot-by-shot scoring, or at a scoring station, and changes to a player's disposition. Scores are sent for each player separately.

  • Matches: Any change to the first round matches of a Bracket Tournament. This also sends updated Players and Pairings.

  • Match Results: Any change to a player's scorecard on the Enter Scores page or in the Golf Genius App sends that player's match. Entering match results directly does not send an update.

  • Event & Round Settings: Saving changes to the Event Profile or to any Round Profile, or changing a round's play date.

  • Teams: Creating or updating teams, or changing team membership.

  • Team Results: Any score update. Each team is sent separately.

Note: Matches and Match Results support Gross Bracket Tournaments played as individual, Best Ball, Alt-Shot, or Scramble, and 3/3/3 Flags. Team Results support Gross Team College Scoring and Gross Team within Team College Scoring.
