This feature is only available with the following products:
Rather than entering course details manually, GA Connect customers can import golf course details (e.g., par, yardage, slope, course rating) directly from GA Connect — not only for their own venue, but for any other club in Australia, since clubs frequently host competitions at other clubs' venues. It's important that the courses in your Course Details are imported from GA Connect, since this is:
Required for hole-by-hole score posting
Required to post general player scores on the Club App (if applicable)
Required for scores to be used in Playing Condition Calculations (PCC)
Required for scores to be used in playing statistics
In this article, we will discuss how to import courses from GA Connect.
Importing a Course from GA Connect
To import a course from GA Connect, follow these directions:
Navigate to Customer Center > Customer Settings > Course Details (to import at the customer level) or Event/League > Course Details (to import at the event/league level).
Click "Import from GA Connect".
In the popup that appears, the Club dropdown will already be preselected to your club, and the Course dropdown will be populated with your club's courses (as shown below). If you need an alternate club and/or course, use the dropdowns to select that club and course.
Click "Import."
Once the import job finishes, you'll be redirected to the course's edit page, where you can view the imported course and tees (as shown below).
Course and Tee Data Imported from GA Connect
When a course is imported from GA Connect, the course's Name and Club are pulled in, along with the following for each tee:
Tee Name
Gender
Slope
Course Rating
Hole-by-hole data: Par, Distance (in meters), and Stroke Index
Note: Unlike courses imported from other WHS regions, the following course and tee data imported from GA Connect cannot be edited in Golf Genius: course name, tee name, course rating, slope, gender, and hole-by-hole data are all read-only, per Golf Australia and GolfConnect's requirements for rated courses used in handicap events. You can still create and edit non-rated courses manually via Course Details > Add Course; this restriction only applies to courses imported from GA Connect.
Editing Courses Imported from GA Connect
After importing a course from GA Connect, you can edit some of the course details (if necessary) in the Course Details. The following course information cannot be edited: name, tee name, course rating, slope, gender, and hole-by-hole data, per Golf Australia and GolfConnect's requirements for rated courses used in handicap events (as shown below).
Note: If you need a modified course on the scorecards, you can create a course manually via Course Details > Add Course.
Refreshing Courses from GA Connect
Since course and tee data imported from GA Connect can't be edited manually, if GA Connect updates a course's information — for example, its 18-hole or 9-hole course rating — you can pull those changes into Golf Genius using the refresh button on the course's edit page. This works for courses imported from your own club as well as courses imported from another club.
To refresh a course, follow these directions:
Navigate to Customer Center > Customer Settings > Course Details (or Event/League > Course Details) and open the course that needs updating.
Click "Refresh Data from GA Connect" (as shown below).
In the popup that appears, choose whether to refresh the course in place or create a refreshed copy of the course (as shown below).
Once you make your selection, you'll be redirected to a loading page, then back to the course page, showing the refreshed course with the updates reflected.
WHS Compliance
Courses and tees must meet the standards set by the World Handicap System to be WHS Compliant. Courses and tees within your Course Details are checked daily to ensure they are compliant. They will be labeled appropriately in your Course Details (as shown below).
Tees can either be:
Fully WHS Compliant (labeled in green): All tee information (ignoring yardage) in Golf Genius matches the tee information in GA Connect. Hole-by-hole scores can be posted.
Partially WHS Compliant (labeled in orange): The Stroke Index or pars in Golf Genius do not match the Stroke Index or pars in GA Connect. Hole-by-hole scores cannot be posted, but 9- or 18-hole totals can be posted. The scores will still contribute to the PCC computation.
Not Compliant (labeled in red): Either the Slope Rating/Course Ratings do not match, or the tee in Golf Genius no longer exists in GA Connect. Hole-by-hole scores cannot be posted, but 9- or 18-hole totals can be posted. The scores will still contribute to the PCC computation.
WHS Compliance within courses is also labeled, based on the compliance of the tees within the course. Courses can be:
Fully WHS Compliant (labeled in green): All tees within the course are fully compliant.
Partially WHS Compliant (labeled in orange): At least one tee is only partially compliant.
Not Compliant (labeled in red): At least one tee is not compliant.
If a course or tee has a warning, hover over the "WHS Compliant" label (as shown below) to view the warning details and instructions for resolving the issue.
Reasons for a warning include:
Course Removed from GA Connect: The course has been removed from GA Connect and needs to be reimported (see the import instructions above).
Tee in GA Connect has been updated: A tee within the course has been updated in GA Connect (by removing the outdated tee and creating a new updated one). To resolve, refresh the course (see the refresh instructions above).
New Tee Added to GA Connect that is not available in Golf Genius: A new tee has been added to the course in GA Connect that hasn't yet been added to the course in Golf Genius. To resolve, refresh the course to bring in the new tee.
Stroke Index, Par, or Yardage do not match: The Stroke Index, par, and/or yardage have been updated in GA Connect, causing the course to be out of sync in Golf Genius. To resolve, refresh the course to be consistent with the course information in GA Connect.
New Tee Added to Golf Genius that is not available in GA Connect: A new tee has been manually added to the course in Golf Genius and is not yet contained in GA Connect. To resolve, add the tee to GA Connect, if you have the ability, and refresh the course.
