Golf Genius Golf Hub: Creating an Event

This article is intended for the users of the following products:

  • Golf Genius Golf Hub

Building an event page shouldn't take longer than setting up the event itself. Golf Genius Golf Hub gives you a single setup screen with a live preview, so you can see exactly what your golfers will see as you build it.

In this article, we will discuss how to create an event, add rounds, select a course, and brand your event page.

Creating an Event

To create an event, follow these directions:

  1. Navigate to your Dashboard.

  2. Click "Create" next to the My Events heading (as shown below).

This opens the Setup page, where you'll enter your event's details on the left and see a live preview of your Golf Hub page on the right (as shown below).

Note: "Save & Continue" stays disabled until a Name is entered, at least one round date is added, and your selected course has a valid location.

Registration (Status)

Note: This option is not displayed until the event/league has been saved.

Page status publication can be enabled/disabled at any time for the event/league Setup Page, regardless of the registration status of the Golf Genius Golf Hub Page (as shown below).

General

The General section covers your event's type, name, dates, and course (as shown below).

To complete the General section, fill out the following:

  1. Type: Select "Event" or "League":

    • Event: A single competition or tournament, typically run over one or more consecutive days (e.g., a club championship or a one-day outing).

    • League: A season-long series of rounds played over time (e.g., a weekly or recurring league).

Note: This selection also sets the default tab in the Add Rounds pop-up.

  2. Name: Enter the name of your event. This is required, and appears immediately in the preview, the thumbnail, and on your published Golf Hub page.

  3. Dates: Click the "+" control next to Dates to open the Add Rounds pop-up (as shown below). Select one of the following options:

    1. Add Round Manually: Select the "Add Rounds Manually" tab to choose individual dates from a two-month calendar.

      1. Calendar: Select the dates of the rounds from the calendar view (as shown below).

      2. Round: Displays the total number of rounds and their dates. You can click the "x" on the round dates to remove a round if no round occurs that day.

      3. Click "Save" to add the rounds.

    2. Generate Weekly Rounds: On the "Generate Weekly Rounds" tab, quickly create recurring rounds scheduled on the same day each week (as shown below).

      Define the following:

      1. Which day do you play? Select the day of the week for recurring rounds. Note: You can select more than one day.

      2. When does the first round start? Use the calendar selector to pick the date of the first round.

      3. How many weeks will you play? Define the number of weeks your event/league season is played over. Note: Even if you skip a week, count it as a week played; you can remove the round for that week later.

      4. Round(s): Displays the total number of rounds and their dates. You can click the "x" on the round dates to remove a round if no round occurs that day.

    Notes for picking Rounds:

    1. Clicking a date more than once under Add Rounds Manually adds multiple rounds on that day.

    2. Weekly rounds are capped at 52. Once rounds exist, the "+" control becomes "Edit Rounds," and the rounds appear as removable chips.

  4. Course: Search for and select your course.

    1. US and Canada: Type a course name into the Course field. Select a match to import the course automatically from the Course Rating Directory (CRD).

Note: If a course imported from the CRD doesn't have a complete address, a warning appears and blocks Save & Continue and publishing until you add one. Click "Add Location" in the warning, search for the street address, confirm the City, Country, State, and Zip code, and click "Save."

    2. International: Click the "+" control next to Course to open "Add Course," then manually enter the course name and address.

Details

The Details section covers your event's format, tags, and description (as shown below).

To complete the Details section, fill out the following:

  1. Format: Enter the game format for your event. This is optional and appears on your Golf Hub page.

  2. Tags: Click the "+" control next to Tags to open "Add Tags" (as shown below).

    1. Select a Category:

      1. Gender (Male, Female, or Mixed)

      2. Age (Senior, Adult, or Junior)

      3. Event Type (Clinic, Championship, Social, Charity, Outing, Adaptive, Double Golf, Simulator)

    2. Select an Option within that Category.

    3. Click "Add."

Note: Tags from different categories can be combined, and each appears as a removable chip.

  3. Description: Enter a description using the rich-text editor. Formatting options include font, size, bold, italic, underline, text and highlight color, links, alignment, lists, tables, and images. This content appears on your Golf Hub page.

Branding

Golf Genius Golf Hub applies a default banner and thumbnail automatically, which you can keep or replace (as shown below).

To complete the Branding section, fill out the following:

  1. Banner: Click the pencil control next to Banner to open "Upload Image" (as shown below).

    1. Click "Upload Photo" and select a jpg, jpeg, gif, png, or bmp file (1150x240, up to 6 MB).

    2. Drag the preview frame to reposition the visible area.

    3. Click "Done."

Note: Replacing the banner also updates the cropped thumbnail to match.

  2. Thumbnail: Click the pencil control next to Thumbnail to open "Add Thumbnail Photo." The thumbnail is always cropped from the banner.

    1. Drag the 16:9 frame to reposition the visible area.

    2. Click "Done."

Finishing Event Setup

Once you're happy with your event details, click "Save & Continue" to save your event and continue to Registration Setup. Clicking "Cancel" at any point discards the event and returns you to your Dashboard.

Editing Event Setup

You can return to your event's setup at any time. From your Dashboard, either click the event's name in the My Events table, or click the ⋮ menu in the Actions column and select "Edit Event" (as shown below).

Both open the same Setup page you used to create the event, pre-filled with your current General, Details, and Branding settings. Make your changes and click "Save & Continue" to update them.
