Q: Does Golf Genius collect or remit sales tax on payments?
A: No. Golf Genius is a Software as a Service (SaaS) provider and does not collect, calculate, or remit Sales Tax, VAT, GST, or HST on behalf of our customers. When you use Golf Genius to collect payments for registrations, memberships, donations, and more, your facility is responsible for ensuring that all applicable taxes are accounted for and paid to the appropriate government authorities.
How is this communicated in the system?
To ensure transparency for both your administrative team and your golfers, we have added informational messaging throughout the platform:
For Managers: On all payment-related setup pages (Membership Programs, Registration, Add-ons, Invoices, etc.), a visible message indicates that the displayed amount is inclusive of any applicable tax.
Manager Tooltips: A tooltip is available on these pages to remind staff that Golf Genius does not handle tax remittance.
For Golfers: On the player-facing portal and payment pages, a tooltip appears next to the Total Amount. This informs the golfer that the price they see is the final price, including any taxes your facility may owe on that transaction.
