Q: Why am I getting the error message “This is not a valid GGID” on the mobile app when trying to enter my GGID?
A: This error means Golf Genius can’t match what was entered to an active GGID. The most common causes and fixes are below.
The round hasn’t started yet: A Foursome GGID can’t be used until the round is set to In Progress. Before then, use the Event/League GGID to view the portal and leaderboard.
Extra spaces before or after the GGID: A space at the start or end of the GGID causes this error. This often happens when you copy and paste a GGID from an email or text. Delete the GGID and type it in again by hand, with no spaces before or after it.
Spaces within the GGID: A GGID that contains a space (for example, “ABC 123”) won’t work. Event and league managers should change the GGID to letters and numbers only, then share the new GGID with players.
Something other than a GGID was entered: An email address, GHIN number, member number or portal URL won’t work in the GGID field. If you have a Golf Genius account, sign in with your email address and password and leave the GGID field blank.
The GGID was entered incorrectly: Check for missing, incorrect, or swapped characters. If you aren’t sure you have the right GGID, contact the facility running the event.
A GGID was saved from a previous sign-in: The mobile app and some browsers remember the last GGID used. Clear the GGID field before typing the new one, and don’t pick a saved entry from your browser’s autofill list.
It works on one device but not another: Sign out of the mobile app and sign in again. If that doesn’t help, delete the app, reinstall it and try again.
The club’s product level doesn’t include the mobile app: Some products, such as TM Club, don’t include mobile app access, so GGIDs for those events and leagues won’t work in the app. Sign in from a web browser instead, using the same GGID. If you aren’t sure which product the facility uses, ask the facility running the event.
Note: Event and league managers can find GGID's here:
Event/League GGID: Event/League > Event/League Profile > General Settings
Round GGID: Rounds > Round Profile > General Settings
Foursome GGID: Rounds > Edit Existing Pairings (toggle on “GGIDs”)
Player GGID: Rounds > Edit Existing Pairings (toggle on “GGIDs”)
If you’ve tried these steps and still see the error, contact Golf Genius Support. Include the GGID you’re using, the facility and event name, and whether you’re on the mobile app or a web browser.
