If your golf cart fleet utilizes Smartscore GPS units, then you can take advantage of our Smartscore GPS integration. This integration has the following functionality:
GPS units can act as digital cart signs
Players can enter their hole-by-hole scores into the units
Players can view the live leaderboard from the units
To set up this integration, contact our support team.
When setting up and managing an event or league, you will use the same process as you would without the integration. However, there are some additional steps and functions (outlined in the article below).
Linking Smartscore Courses
In Smartscore, a "course" is a 9-hole unit, not a full round. For example, a 27-hole club manages West (9), East (9), and South (9) as three separate Smartscore courses. Once your account is connected to Smartscore, link each pair of Smartscore courses to a course in the Course Details. To set the courses in the course details, follow these directions:
Navigate to Course Details:
Customer Center: Customer Settings > Course Details.
Event/League: Event/League Profile > Course Details.
Select the Action dropdown and click "Edit" for the course you wish to edit (Note: You will need to repeat the following steps for additional course alignment.)
Click the "Smartscore Settings" dropdown (as shown below).
Assign the front and back 9 courses using the dropdowns.
Click "Save" to apply the settings.
Making Cart Assignments
Players need to be assigned to specific golf carts in the fleet. After pairings are created, go to Rounds > Cart Assignments (as shown below).
Follow these instructions to make cart assignments:
Click "Connected" to display only the currently available carts.
Select the riders on the cart.
Select the cart on the right.
Click "Assign".
Repeat the steps above for the remaining assignments.
VERY IMPORTANT: Click "Save" on the bottom right to save all assignments.
If the event has multiple rounds and the cart assignments are identical, you can copy them from a previous round (option at the bottom left when assigning carts). For instance, maybe you are playing a 36-hole best-ball tournament in one day. The teams are probably using the same carts for both rounds. So you can easily copy assignments from round to round.
You can also manage cart assignments with our iPad App. When logged into the app as a manager, you can walk along the fleet of carts with the iPad, making assignments.
Selecting the Tournaments to be Displayed
You will need to select the tournaments to display on the units. Go to Rounds > Tournaments (as shown below).
In the screenshot above, a golf cart logo appears next to the scramble tournament. The leaderboard for that tournament will be displayed on the GPS units. The skins tournament is currently not set to be displayed. To unselect or select another tournament, go to the Advanced Display Options while editing the tournament (as shown below) and select the option to display the tournament.
Supported Tournament Formats
Smartscore supports the standard format set (Stroke, Stableford, Quota, Eagles, Birdies, Deuces, Treys) plus Match Play.
Managing Scores
To edit or enter scores currently cart-controlled, click on the pairing group and attempt to enter/change a score. You will have the option to "Edit Scores" (as shown below), where you can make the necessary edits without unassigning a cart from the player/group.
Note: You can also select the option to unassign the cart. However, you cannot reassign the cart until it is in the staging area.
Player Experience:
Once the GPS units are active on the course and the round is moved to "In Progress", the players will be able to enter scores and view the leaderboard on the units.
