Live Activities and Dynamic Island (iPhone)

This feature is only available with the following products:

Note: This feature is not available for customers who have enabled the Translation/Localization option.

On iPhone, players can follow live leaderboard updates directly from the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island while a round is in progress, without opening the Golf Genius App or Club App. Live Activities is an iOS feature and is not available for Android devices.

In this article, we will discuss how Live Activities work and how to enable them on iPhone.

How Live Activities Work

Live Activities start automatically once a player lands on the Enter Scores screen, provided the following conditions are met:

  • The player is signed in to the Golf Genius App or Club App using a GGID or Email and Password.

  • The round is in progress and Mobile Scoring is enabled.

  • The tournament uses a supported format.

  • Live Activities are enabled on the player's iPhone (iOS 16.1 or later, with Live Activities and Background App Refresh turned on for the app).

Once started, the Live Activity appears on the Lock Screen (as shown below).

On supported iPhones, it also appears in the Dynamic Island (as shown below). The Live Activity updates automatically as scores are posted, so players can track standings without returning to the app. Players can tap "Enter Scores" to jump directly to the hole they are currently playing, or tap the leaderboard preview or "Full Leaderboard" to open the round's full leaderboard.

Note: On iPhones without Dynamic Island, only the Lock Screen view is available.

Supported Tournament Formats

Live Activities are supported for most individual and team Stroke Play and Stableford tournament formats, across both single-round and multi-round events. Note: Not all tournament formats support Live Activities.

Setting the Tournament Used for Live Activities

If a round has multiple tournaments, the tournament used for Live Activities is set when enabling Mobile Score Entry, provided at least one tournament in the round uses a supported format. To set the tournament used for Live Activities, follow these directions:

  1. Navigate to Rounds.

  2. Toggle Enable Mobile Score Entry to Yes. If the round has multiple tournaments, the "Select the Default Tournament" pop-up will open automatically (as shown below).

  3. Under Live Activities, use the dropdown to select the tournament to use for Live Activities on iOS devices.

  4. Click Save to apply the settings.

Note: The Handicap Strokes section of this pop-up selects the tournament used to display Playing Handicaps and stroke dots in the mobile app — this is separate from the Live Activities selection.
